Poem Summary
Well when reading the poems by Emily Dickinson, it was pretty tough trying to decipher the meanings of her words but i found it a little easier when it came to interpreting it in my own way. For example, in her poem The Soul Selects Her Own Society, there were 2 instances where i interpreted the lines as relating to tarot, the line “Unmoved- she notes the Chariots-Pausing-At her low gate” and the line “Unmoved-an Emperor be kneeling Upon her Mat”. The Chariot and the Emperor are both known to be associated with tarot cards, as the chariot signifies movement and the Emperor represents a masculine or dominant figure. This helped me interpret that the female stated in the poem may have face stagnancy but was then approached by a dominant or masculine character.
