In light of the poem “The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas” by Ursula LeGuin, i based my annotations off the figure of language and the hidden meanings within its sentences. While searching for signs of an ethical dilemma conveying perfect happiness i witnessed that in the story it’s pretty much described in a cryptic yet simple way. To my knowledge i observed that happiness is either imagined or executed harshly until the end of the story when the group of civilians leave to find real happiness which is based on reality and not imagination.

I think when it comes to “The paradox of literature” the author is trying to convey that this is when a piece of art or literature is contradicting its own style or changing things up to execute an entirely different meaning . The poem “Parsley” By Rita Dove conveys this message when it shows the paradox in the line “mi madle, mi amol en muelte” because this showcases a different style of writing from the past lines before.

Considering my annotations from Sonny Blues, I’ve learned or noticed the authors use of imaginary or auditory senses to allow the reader to ponder the descriptions in the story. I also seen many textual instances where it made me wonder the year of when this story takes place based off its characters language styles.

Well when reading the poems by Emily Dickinson, it was pretty tough trying to decipher the meanings of her words but i found it a little easier when it came to interpreting it in my own way. For example, in her poem The Soul Selects Her Own Society, there were 2 instances where i interpreted the lines as relating to tarot, the line “Unmoved- she notes the Chariots-Pausing-At her low gate” and the line “Unmoved-an Emperor be kneeling Upon her Mat”. The Chariot and the Emperor are both known to be associated with tarot cards, as the chariot signifies movement and the Emperor represents a masculine or dominant figure. This…

Im not very good with introductions so bare with me lol, im 22 and im majoring in biotechnology so im hoping to obtain a career in research or biomedical engineering after graduation. My hobbies include reading, listening to music, gaming and sketching/doing digital art when I can, im also a big horror movie fan so there’s that.
